The Minneapolis based trio plays music that embraces the essence of jazz with highly unusual instrumentation and inspired soloing. The organic timbre of wooden flutes, weaving through the swirling undercurrents provided by electric cello and traditional drum kit, opens new sonic possibilities and creates a distinct sound that is simultaneously primitive and contemporary.

BOUNCE OFF THE MOON, JazZen's first CD as a trio, contains 11 tracks that demonstrate the group's versatility. Styles include laid-back swing ("Don't Tell Lydia" and "Solidarity"), blues ("I'm Wearing White"), mid-tempo funk ("Bobbu BopBop"), as well as the Spanish-tinged lament of "Longing for a Hero" and the acid-jazz hypnotic groove that propels the title track before exploding into a free-jazz frenzy. The trio pays homage to jazz greats by including their own unique versions of tunes made famous by Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and John Coltrane.
